"Ugh." I blindly searched for a pillow and threw it over my head to block the sunlight.

Why was it so bright in my room? My blackout curtains should block everything out.

Then I remembered I wasn't in New York City anymore.

Then I remembered something else.

I threw off the pillow and looked around.

All the air rushed out of my lungs.

I was alone. Alone in Dominic Waters' room.

Memories of the night before rushed to the surface.

I slept with Dominic Waters.

And then he snuck out of his own hotel room. But I didn’t have time to dissect any of that because my best friend was getting married today.

I got out of bed and searched for my purse.

"Gotcha." I found my purse and my phone, checking the time.

It was past nine.

I was late. Very late.

It was Kiki's freaking wedding day, and I was late for the breakfast she had planned with her girlfriends and her mother.

I rushed around the room, shimmying into the red dress from last night and wincing as my body started to feel the effects of being perfectly satisfied.

The ache between my legs put a smile on my face. But I still wished Dominic hadn't left me alone.

At least he would be on time for breakfast with the guys.

I lifted a foot and put one of my heels back on, then jumped in place to slip on the other one.

Phone. Purse. Clothes.

I thought I had everything.

I opened the door and peeked down the hall before slipping out and back into my room.

There was no way I would be going to breakfast without a shower first.

After the fastest shower in the history of showers, I exited the room, my hair still damp as I dashed to the restaurant.

Five ladies sat around the table laughing and drinking mimosas.

They all stopped when they spotted me.

Kiki drew her champagne glass to her lips. "Is this a walk of pride?"

A laugh broke loose in my chest. I loved that my friend didn't shame people for wanting to have sex. If anything, she promoted it.

I took the empty seat next to her. "I have no idea what you're talking about. Besides, this isn't what I wore last night."

She waved me off. "Semantics."

I changed gears. "It's your wedding day," I cheered, lifting the full mimosa glass in front of me.

Everyone else resumed their conversations, but Kiki leaned toward me, whispering in my ear, "Don't think you won't receive a full interrogation after this wedding."

I downed half of my mimosa. "Trust me, I'm well aware."

Fortunately, there were plenty of things to distract Kiki.

The breakfast turned into a last-minute check in to make sure we had everything taken care of before going into hair and makeup.

Wedding prep kept me so busy that I didn't have time to spiral and wonder what the heck happened last night and all that it meant.

But I knew that was all just temporary.
